RESEARCH

Teaching, research, and service are the primary roles for professors at TAMUC. My areas of research a focus on leadership at the superintendent and principal levels, effective school board practices and governance, educational advocacy, and school improvement. These areas of research center on the importance of leadership within the school district as well as with the educational community.

Generally, I have used a collaborative process for publishing. This approach allows me to learn from professors with more expertise as well as refine my research agenda. My research includes working with educational experts at the state and local level which provides an opportunity to further the collaboration with current leaders. This also allows for a mutual sharing of research and best practices.

I have maintained an active involvement in professional organizations in order to share my research as well as learn from other scholars. I have had the opportunity to present at SERA (Southwest Educational Research Association, AERA (American Educational Research Association) - SIG Research on Women and Education, TCPEA (Texas Council of Professors or Educational Administration), TASA (Texas Association of School Administrators) and local school districts.

Both publications and conference presentations are an avenue to share my research. My publications include six refereed articles, one book chapter, and one book. I have two publications submitted for review which include an article and book chapter. I have completed nine professional conference presentations. I have also served as a peer reviewer for  AERA, ICPEL (International Council for Professors of Educational Leadership), SERA, and School Leadership Review. These peer reviews include journal articles and conference presentation submissions.
